Defense Analysis and Development Organization (DRDO) has developed a complex husk expertise to protect Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter aircraft against hostile radar threats.
This comes months after the DRDO developed similar expertise for naval ships to protect them from missile attacks.
Specialization was developed in three types. The Indian Navy test-fired all three variants in the Arabian Sea on board an Indian Navy ship and found the demonstration successful.
Where specialization has been developed
The improved straw expertise has been developed by the Defense Laboratory of DRDO located in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
It was developed in collaboration with Highly Vitality Supply Analysis Laboratory in Pune to meet the qualitative requirements of IAF. Air Power has started the process of inducting this expertise after completing profitable user trials as per DRDO.
What is Better Straw Specialization
It is a digital countermeasure expertise used by armies around the world to protect their belongings like naval ships and aircraft. It protects the goods from radar and radio frequencies.
In the case of naval ships, chaff rockets are deployed in the air, which serve as multiple targets for the missile steering system.
The Defense Ministry said in a launch that the significance of this reform lies in the fact that the very small amount of straw material deployed in the air acts as a bait to deflect enemy missiles to protect ships.

Each is used as a defensive countermeasure to confuse radar from locating a vessel, or to deflect missiles from targets.

Defense Laboratory Jodhpur has indigenously developed three variants of critical expertise specifically Brief Very Chaff Rocket (SRCR), Medium Very Chaff Rocket (MRCR) and Lengthy Very Chaff Rocket (MRCR) to meet the qualitative requirements of the Navy in line with the Ministry of Defence. The successful development of Superior Chaff technology by DLJ is another step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, the ministry further said in a release.
